Trail Conditions: Fair
We did receive 2 1/2 to 3 inches of new snow this past Monday into Tuesday. It was just enough to improve some of the snirty & worn out sections that had been growing. It will continue to be pretty brown on sections where traffic is heavy & concentrated. Some of the tight & twisty sections that have heavy tree cover are also pretty brown. Overall however, on the average, our system is in good condition. Some sections are excellent. Most corners continue to be very icy.We are supposed to receive a little more snow tonight into tomorrow (Thursday). Predicted amounts vary between forecasts, so it is a wait & see as to how much we actually get.As far as our lakes go, as long as you stick to the marked crossings, you will be fine. However, as always, use extreme caution. Slushy spots or ice heaves could develop at any time, without warning.
Logging continues between the following intersection numbers; 205 & 353 on trail 6/10/11 and on 11/51 between 344 & 352. Out in that area, there are also logging trucks using Vandercook Rd, which is a Cross Country Cruisers trail. The speed limit on Vandercook has been reduced to 35mph. Trucks are hauling out from a lot of areas – so PLEASE be ready at all times to get out of their way! Get off to the side if you can or turn around as quickly as you can. These loggers are not out there to ruin your snowmobiling experience. They are out there trying to make a living. There ARE LOGGING AHEAD SIGNS. Pay attention – heed their warning – SLOW DOWN!!! If you encounter a truck being loaded or a logging machine on the trail; DO NOT assume an operator of the machine or driver of the truck sees you. Always wait until the operator/driver signals you to pass or wait until they have moved off to the side.
We have 15 groomer drivers this year, as usual, led by trail boss Dennis Horan. All of our drivers do an awesome job. Please give them a thank you if you see one of them somewhere!
As always, PLEASE RIDE SAFE!!! Expect the unexpected. Respect especially the groomers and also other riders. You are not the only one on the trail, so always expect traffic to be coming at you around every corner. Slow down and ride another day!!! Riding Stupid Takes a Toll! Riding Smart Should Be Your Goal!!!
